Noti dlya bayana rio rita. Pin Trading is a fun pastime at Disney World for many guests. Finding the pin to finish a collection is exciting or just picking ones that strike your fancy. However, many guests want to know – How do I tell if my pin is real? As the risk of getting a scrapper pin in Disney trading from Cast Members is common. Things To Look For: • Serial Number – Disney has started adding these in recent years. • Coloring – Look for true colors, anything yellow/green tint or off color is an indicator of a fake (yellow eyes are bad). • Rough edges – a real pin will have smooth, and not rough edges.

• Disney Pin Trading Logo – is an indicator of a real pin. • Prongs – look to either side of pin back and you should see prongs, these keep the black rubber mickey head in place on official pins. • Raised Front – the front of the pin should not be completely smooth, some texture is usually felt. • Gloss – Real pins have a nice shiny gloss on front.

• Misspelled words – any misspelling on words on front or back of pin is a huge red flag (not are not so obvious and easily overlooked). • Border on back – There should be no obvious border on the back around the Mickey heads, it will naturally fall off instead.

I would suggest serious pin traders only trade with likewise.

However, trading from the pin boards and Cast Members for kids and many guests is just for the experience. It is still fun finding your favorite character, even if its not real.

However, these are the methods I use when looking for fakes. I, like all Disney Pin Traders, don’t always get it right 100% of the time, but if you follow these easy methods when looking at Pins, I’m sure you’ll rarely get traded a Scrapper. For all Disney pins if you run your finger around the edge of the pin, there should be NO SHARP EDGES.This is obviously due to health and safety and ensuring that all Official Disney pins are of the highest standard. However, if you see or feel any sharp edges chances are, chances are you have a scrapper!
